Achill is located on the west coast of Ireland, home of some of the best links courses in the world.
It is an ideal location in which to base your golfing holiday, offering access to renowned links courses at Westport and Belmullet (Carne) as well as local courses on Achill Island and at Mulranny. Achill Golf Club operates a nine hole links course at Keel, at the heart of Achill Island. It is set on machair, the name given to a particular type of coastal grassland, on a level plain close to the storm beach of Trawmore Strand. This links course offers spectacular views of the Minaun Cliffs and Slievemore mountain. It is open to visitors and green fees are set at very reasonable rates. Pitch and putt is available at the Valley House in the north of Achill, and for family fun there is crazy golf at The Chalet restaurant in Keel.
A nine hole links course is also available at Mulranny, overlooking the Blue Flag beach at this picturesque village.
There are a number of fine quality golf courses within easy travelling distance of Achill. These include the 18 hole links course at Carne (Belmullet) and an 18 hole championship golf course at Westport. Both these courses provide an excellent day's golf, with Achill providing a perfect base for a relaxing golfing break.
Further afield there are golf courses at Castlebar and Ballina (two) while at Sligo there is a renowned 27 hole golf course at Rosses Point.
